It’s her 20th birthday and her final days in Paris after years of living abroad with her father, a top US diplomat, and Billie is feeling all the feelings—saddened to leave her friends and abuzz with anticipation about what comes next. A night of dancing, wine, and a chance encounter with a handsome Princeton athlete, is a near-perfect send-off.
When Billie’s dad gifts her the keys to her own NYC apartment, she embraces the chance for a fresh start in a new city, even if she has to remain under the watchful eyes of her caretaker and bodyguards, including Caleb, who may be more than just a protector and friend.
Within days of her arrival, Billie senses a change in Caleb, who’s suddenly apprehensive about her rekindled relationship with Thomas—the handsome American, her wealthy new friends, and the beguiling (and not to mention gorgeous) Swedish family upstairs. He’s been over-protective of her since the mysterious death of her mother years ago, but lately, he’s been acting like there’s more at stake than ever before.
As Billie steps into an eye-opening world of wealth and secrets—where everyone may not be who they seem—she’ll have to navigate her volatile new relationships and the mysteries of her past—to find her path forward.
I have to admit I have a bit of a book hangover after reading this one. The story swept me up from the first page. I adore the main character, Billie. She's the daughter of a US ambassador, surrounded by wealth, a life of privilege, and yummy bodyguards. She's sheltered but not naive...oober rich but completely relatable. As I became fully immersed in her roller coaster love life, I couldn't help but think there is a little more going on behind the scenes and now I can't wait to read book 2 because Alejandra set it up beautifully! I mean, a lot happens in this book but not enoooough. Alejandra's world building is superb...her dialogue is fantastic. Her way of storytelling is entirely addictive and captivating; I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. And just so there is no question about my intentions...#teamCaleb to the bitter end. Also, can we please have a moment of silence for this cover...SWOON. —Caitlin Moss, author of "The Cracks Between Us" and ˝Sixteen Summers"
The gorgeous cover is what initially lured me in, and I'm so glad I picked up a copy. Andrade has created a rich and detailed world for her characters to interact in, each of whom are well-defined and multidimensional. The prose is easy to read, and I found myself hooked very quickly. I ended up reading the whole thing in one sitting on a Friday night. Highly recommend!

It truly just sucks you in! I was lucky enough to get this gifted to me by Alejandra and I am so happy about it. This book is INCREDIBLE.
When I tell you this author had me drawn into every part of Billie’s world, I’m not exaggerating. As the story went on I became more emotionally invested in each of the relationships and to be honest my heart is torn with which team I’m on. This is an amazing story about gaining the freedom to figure out who and what you want for yourself. The love twists just real you in to want more. The only negative thing I have to say is this left me bursting at the seams for the next book.... I emotionally don’t know if I my heart can wait to see where this goes lol I need the next book like yesterday!!!!
